Ready in: 40 mins
Makes: 12 - 14 Trees

Ingredients:
2 sheets of puff pastry, slightly thawed
1/3 cup of chocolate spread
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Olive oil (for brushing)
Method
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Step 2. Prepare the puff pastry: Lay one sheet of puff pastry flat on a clean surface. Spread a thin, even layer of chocolate spread over the entire sheet, covering all the corners.
Step 3. Assemble the layers: Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top of the chocolate-covered sheet.
Step 4. Cut the pastry into strips: Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the stacked puff pastry into strips about 2 cm wide.
Step 5. Shape the “trees”: Take one strip and roll it up from one end, accordion-style, so that the roll has at least four layers. The top part of the roll should be the smallest, creating a Christmas tree shape.
Step 6. Secure the trees: Use a skewer or small knife to poke through the center of each “tree” to keep it together. Place each tree on the prepared baking tray.
Step 7. Brush with olive oil: Lightly brush the top of each pastry tree with olive oil to help them crisp up during baking.
Step 8. Bake: Place the tray in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
Step 9. Finish and serve: Once baked, remove the trees from the oven and let them cool slightly. Sprinkle generously with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy warm!
